    Sorry folks, the phones have left CES - and it doesn't look like they'll be coming back. What was once a waterfall of shiny new handsets has turned into a pitiful trickle as phone manufacturers and carriers opt for mobile-only conferences and private events to launch their hot new devices.

    AT&T has announced a $100 discount on any of the tablet computers it sells with a two-year service contract. The move is intended to spur holiday tablet sales and activations on the carrier's 3G and LTE networks.

  • Hands-on with the Pantech Laser

    Android phones were all the rage at this year's CTIA, but there were a few non-smartphones launched at the show. One of these phones, the Pantech Laser, impressed me in particular. Coming to AT&T on October 17, the Laser is an ideal phone for somebody who wants to stay connected via text, e-mail or social networks, but doesn't necessarily need Web or app access.
