Fukushima disaster spurs Japan to mass-produce its own drones

Japan has been a nonentity in drones, but proposed rules could unlock new technologies

  • The Mini Surveyor, developed by a Chiba University spinoff, is the first mass-produced hexacopter drone in Japan. It will be used to help map radiation at the crippled Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear power plant.
