NASA puts finishing touches on its first Mars-bound spacecraft

NASA engineers and technicians have put the finishing touches on Orion, the spacecraft designed to take astronauts into deep space.

  • NASA Engineers installed a four-piece fairing over Orion a few weeks ago as one of the final major assembly steps for the spacecraft.

  • NASA’s Orion spacecraft was completed Thursday, at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It is set for a Dec. 4 test flight from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
