ARN's Community Manager, Hafizah Osman, has disappeared under a flood of community picture stories and reports of company events, so we thought what better to do than put them all in a slideshow summing up the last few weeks in the channel. This week features company awards and partner events, and plenty of triathletes, amongst others. Are you pictured?
Juniper Networks and Avnet recently entered three mixed teams into one of Australia's premier corporate sporting events, the Nissan Corporate Triathlon.
The Nissan Corporate Triathlon National Series has become an institution amongst local, national and international business communities.
The event was held at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair in Sydney, with the competitors taking part in a 300m swim in Sydney Harbour, an 8km bike ride and a 3km run through the Botanic Gardens.
There were more than 5000 participants that competed, with a large representation of groups from the IT&T industry.
The Juniper Networks and Avnet teams claimed they had a great time taking part in the race and all finished with impressive times.
According to the groups, the competition promoted corporate values such as teamwork and company pride within a fun and supportive environment.
ShoreTel’s A/NZ managing director, Jamie Romanin, took up the Melbourne Ironman challenge alongside professional competitors, which saw him persevere through a swim, bike ride and run.
The event was no easy task – the course was a 3.8km swim in Frankston, 180km bike ride on the EastLink motorway, and a 42.km run along Port Philip Bay.
Romanin did really well for himself, coming in at a time of 9 hours and 43 minutes, well under the 10 hour target he had set initially.
While training for the final stages of the program, Romanin adopted a daily exercise regime involving 4am starts during weekdays and long hours on the weekend. He also balanced this with a full work schedule and a young family.
Romanin, a fitness rat, has extended his focus to the rest of his A/NZ team and ShoreTel partners. The company runs a weekly work-sponsored boot camp for them near-by ShoreTel's head office in North Sydney.
