IN PICTURES: IT industry gets together for Queensland flood relief fund-raiser

Many of the IT industry's finest plus some of rugby union's greats have come together to raise funds for Queensland's flood victims at a special lunch at the historic Victoria Barracks Officers’ Mess in Sydney. Former Chief of the Defence Force from 2002-2005, General Peter Cosgrove, hosted the lunch. Table hosts included: Major General David Morrison, the current Commander Forces Command, who is responsible for the Land Army and all training establishments around Australia; current Wallaby coach, Robbie Deans; Bob Dwyer, the coach of the 1991 World Cup winning Wallaby team; Simon Poidevin, 59 test breakaway, who played in the 1991 World Cup final; Paul Clitheroe, financial guru, best known for his Channel Nine show, Money; comedian Vince Sorrenti. The Officers’ Mess at Victoria Barracks is a colonial building from the 1840s that can only be visited by invitation. So far, more than $200,000 has been raised from luncheons organised by industry veteran, John Walters. The event received fantastic feedback from the attendees, and Walters said even though there were so many famous faces in the room, it was pleasing to see how down-to-earth and engaged they were. Another event funding raising event is also on the cards later on in the year, in the form of a Wallaby boat cruise.
