    It started off as a conference about the Linux desktop. In the end, it may be considered the event that accomplished its goal in spite of itself. The event was the Desktop Linux Summit held in San Diego on February 20 and 21. It was originally billed as “the first-event entirely devoted to desktop Linux and will be hosted by the top executives of leading technology companies.”

  • Open for business

    The recent LinuxWorld Expo in New York was the scene of some startling revelations regarding the state of open source. Last summer's show in California showed that Linux wanted to do business in the enterprise. But at this LinuxWorld, Linux looked like nothing but business in the enterprise.
