Good on them, happy 50th, Goodson
- 04 August, 2000 12:37
It is not every day that you get to wish a company in the IT distribution channel a happy 50th birthday, but today we can do just that as point-of-sale (POS) hardware distributor Goodson Imports reaches the milestone.
Starting life as Goodson Calculators back on August 4, 1950, Goodson changed names in 1996 to reflect the shift in its core products away from cash registers and calculators.
It now handles computer-based POS hardware and printers and has an impressive record of sustained growth over half a century of dramatic change.
Naturally, the arrival of GST has ushered in a new golden era for Goodson with a record 43 per cent growth in sales during the 1999-2000 financial year.
During this period, the company was recognised as the largest buyer in the world of POS printers and cash drawer vendor Japan CBM (Citizen Business Machines).
Happy birthday from the staff and readers of ARN. Well done.
