Tibco eyes trading exchanges

With business-to-business (B2B) trading exchanges in mind, Tibco Software is taking aim at the transaction processing software of IBM and BEA Systems with the launch of TIB/Rendezvous TX (RVTX), a combination of guaranteed publish/subscribe messaging middleware with transaction processing software.
RVTX is a hybrid offering that joins TIB/RV with the second generation of Tibco's internal transaction-manager transaction-processing software, previously available as a separate feature, Tibco officials said. The incremental offering is tying together e-commerce and legacy business applications in a bid to provide an end-to-end infrastructure solution that competes against IBM's MQSeries messaging middleware as well as BEA's transaction processing products for e-business.
For trading exchange activity, RVTX can combine multiple messages such as those from inventory, order/entry, and shipping systems into one transaction that is efficiently multicast to an exchange participant, said Andrea Eubanks, director of products for Tibco Software.
Transactions such as orders in B2B marketplaces have many dimensions that will require data aggregation, which can lead to delays in response time, Eubanks said. "[But] RVTX streamlines the B2B process."
RVTX is part of the Tibco ActiveEnterprise publish/subscribe environment and will work with Tibco ActiveExchange and Tibco ActivePortal.
