MicroStrategy opens its eCRM doors

Another US-based software developer has set up shop in Australia, looking to exploit what it hopes is a burgeoning Asia-Pacific market.
Business intelligence software and CRM vendor MicroStrategy has opened its Sydney office, which it plans to use to support its Australia and New Zealand channel.
MicroStrategy already works with NCR, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Fujitsu to rollout its CRM applications. These applications are used to provide companies with one-to-one permission marketing and narrowcasting services for their customers. Any customer information acquired in the process is ploughed back into the system to be used again.
The company already boasts customers in Australia such as Coles Myer. It is looking to bolster its Asia-Pacific clientele with additional reseller partners, according to a statement released by the company.
Speaking at the company's launch of its Sydney office was Paul Ventura, Asia Pacific managing director for research company The Meta Group. He claims that while CRM and its latest derivative eCRM are becoming increasingly important for enterprises, the message for resellers is CRM requires partnering.
"CRM will remain a multi vendor, multi partner solution. There is no end-to-end CRM solution in a box," Ventura said. "CRM needs to integrate with your backend systems so you need to think about open platforms and legacy applications."
