Panasonic claims its two new 16:9 widescreen LCD projectors transform a home into a home theatre. The PT-AE300E incorporates three high-resolution 960 x 540 pixel LCD panels with 800 ANSI (American National Standards Institute) lumens brightness and 800:1 contrast ratio. The vendor’s SmoothScreen technology uses a double refraction crystal to reduce pixelation. The 200E model offers 858 x 484 pixels with 700 ANSI lumens brightness and a 700:1 contrast ratio. Both models feature a short-throw lens to produce big images in small spaces and come with all the terminals required for connection to a DVD player, VCR, PC or game machine. A Secure Digital Memory card slot means still images stored from a digital camera or camcorder can be displayed as a slide show. Six image modes allow the user to adjust picture quality according to content for things like movies, sport or music video clips. RRPs: 200E $3995, 300E $4995.
