Chetan Chaudhary (Twilio)
Cloud communications platform vendor Twilio has promoted Chetan Chaudhary to the role of global vice president of partners.
Chaudhary joined Twilio in 2012 where he was head of channels for two years before leaving the company. He then returned in 2015 as the head of Internet of Things (IoT) business unit, being promoted to general manager and vice president of IoT business unit in March 2018.
In addition to spearheading and building Twilio’s IoT Business, Chaudhary led the design and development of Twilio’s channel strategy and go to market plans earlier in his tenure at Twilio.
He also worked for Oracle and Cisco in the early years of his career. He spent five years at Cisco in various roles including software engineering, sales operations and worldwide business development.
“As Twilio continues to grow rapidly and invest in new markets, partners are an increasingly important part of our ecosystem,” Chaudhary said.
“There is a massive opportunity for partners to join forces with Twilio to redefine the communications industry and I look forward to building on the incredible momentum we are already seeing to create a best-in-class partner organisation.”
Chaudhary remains general manager of Twilio’s IoT business unit, which he built from scratch over the past three years.
His appointment comes after Ron Huddleston died unexpectedly in October 2018. Huddleston joined Twilio in February 2018 after stepping away from the leadership of Microsoft’s One Commercial Partner (OCP) business in December 2017.
Reports emerged on 11 December that Huddleston, who came across to Microsoft from Salesforce in mid-2016 and was subsequently named the OCP business’s corporate vice president, was leaving his post on indefinite family leave.
“Faced with the unexpected search to find a new partner leader this fall, the team evaluated many options,” said George Hu, chief operating officer at Twilio. “We unanimously decided that there is no one in the market better positioned to lead Twilio’s partner team than Chetan.
"A long time Twilio and trusted leader, Chetan has built business units from inception to significant size multiple times at Twilio. We are excited for the future success of the partner organisation under his leadership.”
