Tivoli promises to simplify management

Enterprise management systems are infamously difficult to implement, but IBM's Tivoli Systems division hopes to alleviate the problem with Tivoli Enterprise, which it introduced recently.
The primary enhancements include a three-tier architecture and client-side agents that let large companies connect more desktops to servers and remotely manage them.
Tivoli officials also said other vendors will build the agents into their products - such as 3Com adapters, Microsoft Windows NT 5.0, IBM Netfinity computers, and Lotus Domino - so they can automatically register on Tivoli-managed networks.
