Outcomex wins $4.8M deal with TAFE NSW for Cisco security software

Includes software licencing and maintenance

Outcomex has been awarded a $4.85 million contract to deploy Cisco security software for TAFE New South Wales.

"As part of the separation from the Department of Education, TAFE NSW commissioned a platform that will centrally house all of TAFE NSW’s applications, systems and data," a spokesperson for TAFE NSW told ARN.

This platform is TAFE Private Cloud (TPC) and provides a scalable, robust system that can adapt to the rapidly changing needs of students and staff.

The three-year contract was awarded in April - with deployment expected to take up to six months - and runs until 24 April 2021.

As part of the contract, Outcomex will provide Cisco Security Enterprise Licencing including software and maintenance - a suite of Cisco products including Umbrella insights, AnyConnect and firepower are part of the contract.

"TAFE NSW is building a multi-layered network security services across the TPC and other TAFE computing facilities, network components, and all end users," the spokesperson for TAFE NSW told ARN.

"The agreement reflects a robust product and services set to meet the requirements of Australia’s largest education and training provider."

As a Cisco Gold Certified partner, Outcomex was selected for being TAFE's incumbent partner for TPC managed services and it is entitled to get the most favourable commercial agreement from Cisco.

In July 2017, Outcomex was awarded a $5.9 million, 12-month contract by TAFE NSW for the provision of hardware and software for a new hosting environment within the state’s GovDC infrastructure.

The software component of that contract included management and security software for the TPC, leveraging the services provided by the state’s Government Data Centre (GovDC) infrastructure to create a secure and scalable technology platform.
