Software vendor Civica Group has acquired Victoria-based Icon Global Solutions, which trades as Carelink.
Specialist community services software provider Icon Global was established in 1996 in Geelong, Victoria with its solution carelink+ used by health care sector spanning aged care facilities, disability, family services, mental health and others.
UK-headquartered Civica, which was acquired in July 2017 for $1.64 billion, did not disclose the value of the deal but revealed that Icon Global services 20 per cent of the local social security and disability sector.
With teams also in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, Icon Global's product suite features employee and client co-ordinated rostering, award interpretation, Department of Social Security (DSS) and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) interfaces; client and employee portals and smartphone apps.
Icon counts more than 140 customers across Australia including local government authorities and some national and state-based not-for-profit and for-profit Australian community care providers.
"My business partner, Stephen Grist, and I are excited about opportunities provided by Civica’s broader expertise including managed services and building on complementary markets in local government and social housing," Icon Global CEO, Craig Porte, said.
"Our increased ability to grow and expand as part of the Civica Group will be driven by the large Australian presence and commitment to continuing development of the Carelink suite of products including our latest smartphone and web-based apps for mobile workforces, our move to the cloud and the continuation of our API rollout.”
According to Civica, Carelink's products are complementary to Civica's range of solutions for the health and care sector.
"Care in the community is a key area of focus for Civica’s Health & Care business globally and we are delighted to strengthen our capability locally in partnership with Carelink," explained Civica International executive director Richard Fiddis.
"We have the potential to expand further on the current activities of both companies and to capitalise on key opportunities in Australia and beyond.”
The current Icon Global team will continue to run the business as part of a new expanded A/NZ Health & Care operation and Porte will report directly to Fiddis as a member of the Civica management team.
Civica International, which is part of the Civica Group and operates in Australia and New Zealand, won a $200 million with the Victorian Government to support the administration of the state’s new fines system and its plan to improve its service delivery, in September 2017.
In November, Civica hired former PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) executive, Ian West, to head up its mergers and acquisition (M&A) activity from Brisbane.
