Former Imperva regional sales director for Australia and New Zealand, Kane Lightowler, has been appointed as Carbon Black’s new senior vice president for field sales in the Americas.

The new role sees Lightowler move to US tech hub, Palo Alto, California, from Singapore, where he had been vice president and managing director for Carbon Black’s Asia Pacific and Japan operations, a role he held for just over two years.

Before stepping into his APJ leadership role with Carbon Black, Lightowler has spent over two-and-a-half years as strategic accounts area vice president in Asia Pacific and Japan for fellow cyber security vendor, Imperva.

Lightowler began his tenure with Imperva in late 2009, when he stepped into the A/NZ regional sales director role for the company. He has also done time with Tumbleweed and Content Security, and Alstom IT, which was acquired by Avnet.

According to Carbon Black, under Lightowler’s leadership in the region, the cyber security solutions vendor experienced international expansion and signed more than 100 partners.

Lightowler’s move from Singapore to California sees former MobileIron APJ vice president, Matt Bennett, step in as Carbon Black’s new vice president and managing director for APJ.

“Carbon Black’s expansion in APAC under Kane Lightowler’s leadership has been impressive,” the company’s chief revenue officer, Thomas Hansen, said. “We’re relying on Matt to leverage his two decades of cybersecurity experience and pick up right where Kane left off.”

“I believe we have a significant opportunity for Carbon Black in APAC right now,” Bennett said. “As we continue to invest in the APAC market, I look forward to working closely with our customers and partners, who are very excited about Carbon Black’s vision for the future and our latest innovation, the Cb Predictive Security Cloud.”

In August last year, Carbon Black announced it had appointed former Tanium regional partner manager for South Asia, Marco Corrent, as its new channel director in Australia and New Zealand.

Corrent was tasked with accelerating Carbon Black’s channel expansion on both sides of the Tasman.

“Cyber crime continues to grow in both volume and ingenuity and it’s clear that endpoints are a prime target for today’s advanced attackers,” Corrent said at the time. “As a result, Carbon Black is experiencing strong demand for its leading endpoint security solutions.”
