Microsoft has tapped Alessandro Cardoso from Aussie partner, RXP Services. At Microsoft, Cardoso has been appointed as secure infrastructure architect, Asia-Pacific, Greater China, India and Japan.
In the new role, Cardoso will be working with customers in terms of understanding their business needs and designing technology solutions for them.
He reports directly to Microsoft Asia-Pacific, Greater China, India and Japan secure infrastructure architect manager, Nigel Cain, who is based in the company’s Singapore office.
Cardoso was formerly national lead and technology strategist for cloud, identity and security at the technology consulting services company, a role he was in for less than a year.
He told ARN the move to Microsoft was triggered by his weekly travel between Sydney and Brisbane. During his tenure at RXP Services, Cardoso was based in the Sydney office, with his family based in Brisbane.
Moving to the new role in Microsoft meant that Cardoso will be based in the company’s Brisbane office.
“I really enjoyed my time helping to grow RXP Services to what it has become today but my family and I were based in different states and I was taking too much time to commute between both cities. That is important for me,” he said.
Cardoso's move to Microsoft likely comes as no surprise to the channel, given that he has been a Microsoft most valuable professional (MVP) for more than eight years. Cardoso told ARN he has been working with Microsoft technologies for more than 15 years and his experience in it will help him in this new role.
“That is an advantage I have. It allowed me to know the technology for quite some time and I also have previously forged a network with the product team in Redmond.
“As Microsoft is a global company, it also gives me access to other markets and lets me work on projects across the globe. It gives me insight into requirements from other companies and how I can apply what I learnt from projects I’ve done before into these new projects,” he said.
Cardoso has a strong background in Cloud, virtualisation and management and brings with his experience having worked in the technology industry for more than 24 years.
Prior to joining RXP Services, he was the national manager of the solutions platform at Readify for almost two years. Cardoso was based in the company’s Brisbane office, before he relocated to RXP Services’ Sydney office. He is now based in Microsoft’s Brisbane office.
Before Readify, he was the Asia-Pacific practice manager for cloud and emerging technologies at Insight for more than a year.
Cardoso has also held a number of management roles, having served at Dell as its senior technical consultant for almost three years, and at Gravity as its system architect for more than a year. Some of the other companies he has worked for include SSW, TDS Tecnologica, and Tribunal Justica de Mato Grosso.
Cardoso also got highly commended for technical excellence within the personal innovation category at the 2014 ARN ICT Industry Awards.
