Deloitte delivers eighth Aussie tech acquisition with systems integrator buy

Deloitte has acquired its eighth Australian technology company in two years, taking control of Melbourne-based systems integrator, Plenary Networks.
Terms of the deal will see the consulting giant add to its integrated technology advisory and solutions capabilities, with Plenary Networks’ network architects to join the professional services firm on November 1.
Established by managing director Peter Stojkovski in 2012, Plenary Networks is a self-entitled “young and innovative Australian systems integrator”, specialising in the provision of software defined and cloud networking solutions, alongside security focused solutions around network automation and orchestration.
Upon closing of the deal, Stojkovski will become a Deloitte Consulting partner.
Plenary Networks is just one of a number of technology and related transactions and alliances Deloitte has achieved in recent years, which also include Cloud Solutions Group, Sixtree, Qubit Consulting, Dataweave, Digivizer, The Explainers, and Kid Neon.

Hook said Plenary Networks now adds network architecture and integration skill sets, while expanding customer offerings from application services through to network design and deployment.
“The arrival of the Plenary Networks team adds further to the suite of technology advisory services Deloitte is able to offer to private and public sector clients, across industries such as financial services, health care and energy, and geographies, as they grapple with rapidly evolving changes in the technology space,” Deloitte consulting managing partner, Robert Hillard, added.
“As business and government seek to deliver more services to their customers, people, and business partners in new and innovative ways, such as via the cloud and the ‘internet of things’, the right network services are so important when it comes to technology transformation.”
In addition to professional and managed services capabilities, the company’s vendor relationships span Cisco, Juniper Networks, F5, Fortinet, Brocade, Palo Alto Networks, Tufin, BlueCat Networks, and Arista.
“Network architecture and integration is the real backbone of technology, with networks underpinning the technology stack and communication between hardware and application software across an enterprise,” Deloitte consulting lead partner of Technology, Strategy & Architecture, Kevin Russo, added.

“And there’s a lot of change and opportunity coming in the cloud-based solutions and network spaces - in Plenary’s specialisation area of software defined networking (SDN), network automation, and the ‘the internet of things’.
“With the Plenary team on board, we will be even better positioned to help clients with technology transformation strategy, design and integration, and bolster key vendor relationships such as with Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, and F5 Networks.”
The Plenary Networks team will join Deloitte Consulting’s Technology, Strategy & Architecture practice.
Russo said Deloitte expects it to grow quickly to support clients nationally - network security capabilities will also complement and further strengthen Deloitte Risk Advisory's deep cyber technology and engineering capability.
