Blue Crystal Solutions has been appointed as the exclusive national reseller of Zegami, the brainchild of two Adelaide-based tech entrepreneurs at Oxford University.
Fresh from revealing plans to raise $10 million in capital earlier this year, the big data focused start-up is ramping up efforts to go global, expanding on its Australian and UK bases.
Founded in February 2016, based around the Zegami Data discovery toolset, the company was originally developed as a collaborative project between the Weatherall Institute at Oxford University UK and Coritsu Group from Adelaide in South Australia.
Since launching four months ago, the company is based in Oxford and headed up by Australians Samuel Conway (CEO) Roger Noble (CTO) formerly of Coritsu Group and Stephen Taylor (CSO) of the Weatherall Institute.
“We’re thrilled to have been selected to be a key partner of Zegami,” Blue Crystal Solutions CEO, Vito Rinaldi, said.
“In any meeting we’re in, as soon as we start running a demo of Zegami’s capabilities our clients’ face’s light up.”
As on Oracle partner in Australia, Blue Crystal comes on board at a time when the new entity attracted £500,000 in seed funding from investors including Parkwalk Advisors and Oxford Sciences Innovation.
The sales and implementation team for the product through the support of Blue Crystal and Coritsu Group is to be based in Adelaide, Australia.
“Whether in business, research or in our personal lives we generate thousands of images every day and every image has its associated data,” Zegami CEO, Samuel Conway, added.
“There can be no doubt that storage has become cheaper and more efficient over time but how do we find them again, let alone generate any meaningful information from it. Zegami turns this concept on its head.”
Going forward, Conway said the company’s continued relationship with the University remains “vital” as its launches into not just Australia and the UK, but also the world.
“Data to decision is the new catch cry amongst companies and researchers today; throw in “Big Data” and we need to re-evaluate just how we do this analysis to find what we are looking for,” he added.
“Zegami is enabling technology that is leading to new discoveries and observations in large image data sets.”
