Fujitsu inks contract with Tasmania Emergency Services

Fujitsu has signed with the Tasmanian Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management to deploy a unified Emergency Services Computer Aided Dispatch (ESCAD) system.
The system will be leveraged across Tasmania’s emergency services organisations including Tasmanian Fire, Ambulance, State Emergency Services and Police organisations and will be the first unified system used in the state.
It is currently used by emergency services organisations in NSW, Queensland and ACT.
Fujitsu said the system will be a valuable resource for emergency service call-takers, dispatchers, supervisors and emergency service responders as it can track the status and location of resources and analyse responses post-incident.
The system consists of Capita’s VISION CAD system software, as well as implementation services, interface development, training materials and ongoing support and maintenance for five years following the launch.
Fujitsu chief executive, Mike Foster, said, “Every minute in an emergency scenario can be the difference between safety and catastrophe. Fujitsu is proud to leverage our existing experience in Public Safety to ensure these critical situations can be managed with the utmost efficiency and precision.”
Fujitsu will partner with local Tasmanian company, Synateq, to assist in the project.
