Dimension Data partners with Creative Universe for Melbourne co-working space
ICT services and solutions provider, Dimension Data, has partnered with event management company, Creative Universe, to work on the launch of a new Melbourne co-working space.
This new co-working space, named Dimension 5, will be completed in early 2016 and aims to promote ‘positive human collisions’ and spark innovation and entrepreneurship across technology, start-ups, business and social enterprises.
Creative Universe and Creative Innovation global founder, Tania de Jong, said the move reflects the Federal Government’s vision for a more innovative economy, particularly its support for incubators and increased collaboration between businesses, universities and the research sector.
As part of the National Innovation and Science Agenda, the Government will set aside $8 million for an Entrepreneurs’ Programme, aimed at helping more start-ups realise their economic potential.
“The collaboration fostered at high performing incubators and co-working spaces was a crucial ingredient to innovation. The elements of mentoring, shared resources and networking that exist in co-working spaces rapidly accelerate the opportunities available to early stage entrepreneurs,” she said.
Dimension Data Australia CEO, Rodd Cunico, said together with Creative Universe, the company aims to foster collaboration and encourage innovation through a co-working space that inspires and supports the next generation of Australian start-ups.
“As Australia’s economy continues its shift away from a reliance on resources towards a more innovative, services-based economy, support for incubators and increased collaboration between businesses, universities and the research sector will be critical," he added.
The South Melbourne hub will be open to entrepreneurs, innovators, creatives, social enterprises, small businesses, not-for-profits, disruptive teams from large organisations and others who want to connect with a passionate community of game-changers.
Start-up membership at Dimension 5 will be available from $425 per month and includes invitations to regular community events, such as brainstorm breakfasts, pitch nights, guest speakers and yoga or meditation classes.
Additional membership options also include mentoring opportunities with corporate partners.
