Veeam Software has unveiled a new solution which allows organisations to access their datacentres in way their legacy systems never could.
The Swiss headquartered backup, disaster recovery and virtualisation management firm, which currently has more than 3000 Australian channel partners has launched Veeam Availability Suite.
Achieving non-stop availability of applications and data has traditionally required a large investment in fully redundant systems with instant failover ensuring recovery within seconds.
But these kinds of massive investments could only be justified for a few applications.
The vast majority of applications are served with legacy backup solutions that offer recovery time and point objectives (RTPO) of several hours or days.
For the first time, this significant availability gap can be bridged thanks to Veeam’s new category of solution, Availability for the Modern Datacentre, which provides an RTPO of less than 15 minutes for all applications and data.
Veeam APJ, vice president, Don Williams, told ARN the company had grown 56 per cent in the first quarter of 2014, globally, and that he was looking for 40 per cent growth this year in the Australian market.
“We are seeing an exponential explosion in data and organisations are now having to figure out how to protect this data,” he said.
“The Veeam solution is built for that modern datacentre environment and most companies we are competing with today are using legacy technologies.”
Williams said Veeam was a 100 per cent channel organisation, which was always on the lookout for specialised partners.
“Last year we saw 20 per cent growth in our channel community.”
“Another key trend at the moment is around automation in the datacentre.
"From our standpoint high availability is something that should be automated.”
According to a company statement, the new solution bridges the availability gap by providing five key enabling capabilities, the first being high speeds recovery.
The second is data loss avoidance: Near-continuous data protection and streamlined disaster recovery.
Thirdly, it allows guaranteed recovery of every file, application or virtual server, every time.
There is also risk Mitigation: Low-risk deployment of new applications with a production-like test environment within Veeam Virtual Lab, leveraging the investment made in backup and replication systems and data.
And lastly, the solution provides complete visibility. This allows proactive monitoring and alerting of issues before they affect operations.
Veeam chief executive, Ratmir Timashev, said the modern business cycle was no longer confined to five days a week, eight hours a day.
“IT organisations must make applications and data available to all stakeholders every minute of every day. This is the era of the Always-On Business," he said
"Veeam Availability Suite provides a new enabling technology that transforms the Always-On Business from a mere dream for most organisations into a reality.” Veeam Availability Suite will be available in Q3, 2014.
Pricing will be based per CPU socket and includes the first year of Maintenance and Support. It starts at RRP $1,390 for the standard edition, $1,911 for enterprise and $2,589 for the enterprise plus edition.
