Huawei partners Sydney Festival in mobile device deal

Huawei will develop a digital mosaic of “Festival Faces” to be displayed at Symphony in The Domain

Huawei has inked an exclusive deal to provide smartphones and tablets for next year’s Sydney Festival.

Along with the Ascend P6, Huawei will supply Sydney Festival with a number of MediaPad 10 Link 4G tablets, with high-definition touchscreens to provide information about Festival activities at information booths.

These mobile devices and tablets will be used across the Festival, with tablets available for public use at the Information Hubs in Hyde Park, Circular Quay and Martin Place.

Promoting the Ascend P6 at the new Festival Village site in Hyde Park, Huawei will be developing a digital mosaic of “Festival Faces” that will be displayed at Symphony in The Domain on 26 January 2014.

Huawei devices head of marketing Poh-Lee Koh said that with more people now taking ‘selfies’ it was not surprising that the word had now made its way into the Oxford Dictionary.

“Huawei has just the right smartphone for the best selfies, and that’s in the form of our award-winning, style-oozing Ascend P6 with its front-facing 5 megapixel camera and beauty mode,” he said.

“We are privileged to bring to Sydney Festival its first-ever mosaic artwork made up entirely of selfies taken on the Ascend P6 at the Festival Village and from Huawei Device’s Facebook page.”

Huawei will also provide a free public charging station for festival-goers to keep mobile batteries topped up, as well as showing off the Huawei Ascend P2 smartphone.

In 2013, the festival saw more than 120 sold-out performances over 23 days and played host to 975 artists from 22 countries in more than 50 venues and locations.

Sydney Festival 2014 runs from 9 to 26 January 2014.
