NEXTDC's Melbourne datacentre M1 has been granted the Uptime Institute's Tier III certification for design and maintainability.
The certification focuses on the the ability for individual plant or parts of the critical infrastructure to be shut down for maintenance or replacement without interruption to services.
A Tier III certification means the facility's design will support extremely high levels of service availability.
NEXTDC chief executive, Craig Scroggie, said the certification represented a new dimension of trust and security for customers in the centre's operations.
"Investing so much time and resources on the extremely rigorous and detailed certification process for M1 shows how willing we are to meet the very high service levels required by many organisations in the Australian datacentre market.
This follows the certification of the S1 datacentre in Sydney in September.
The Uptime Institute is seen as a global authority on datacentre design and management and provides unbiased, third party research, education, certification and consultation service on improving data centre performance and efficiency.
