CA Technologies releases Nimsoft Monitor Snap for free

CA Technologies has released its IT monitoring, management and reporting product, Nimsoft Monitor Snap, as a free download.
Snap is a free version of CA Nimsoft Monitor, a paid product used to monitor and manage servers.
CA Technologies Asia Pacific & Japan service assurance vice president, Stephen Miles, said the software is fully functional, and can monitor and manage up to 30 servers or other entities.
"Until today, under-resourced customers faced an unacceptable choice between non-integrated 'point' monitoring tools, technically challenging open-source code, and conventional enterprise-class technology that cost too much and took too long to implement,” he said.
“With CA Nimsoft Monitor Snap, these customers finally have a solution that genuinely meets their specific needs."
Don't call if freeware
According to Miles, CA Technologies aimed to make Nimsoft Monitor Snap different from existing freeware, freemiums, time-limited trials, open-source tools or mid-market commercial products.
“Rather than doing extensive setup and configuration, it can be up and running in as little as an hour,” he said.
“It’s also not a limited time trial, and can be used for up to 30 monitored devices each with unlimited monitors.”
While competing offerings may require “multiple products with varying levels of integration,” Miles said CA Technologies’ free product is easy to manage.
“It comes with robust performance and availability monitoring capabilities for network resources, physical and virtual servers, storage, databases and more in a single, fully-integrated solution,” he said.
CA Nimsoft Snap can be downloaded from CA Technologies’ web site, and is also available from the vendor’s local partners.
