McAfee releases its 2014 line of security products

Security vendor refreshes its security products with upgraded malware scanning engine

McAfee has released its 2014 line of security products featuring an updated version of its malware scanning engine, McAfee AM Core.

The engine was introduced with last year’s product portfolio, and the updated version is now featured in McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2014, Internet Security 2014 and Total Protection 2014.

The engine improvements are aimed at increasing the power and performance of the products, as well as taking up a faster footprint on systems for a more reponsive user experience.

McAfee APAC consumer marketing director, Melanie Duca, said the updated range of security products come at a time when more Australians are online than ever before.

“With faster and more efficient scanning capabilities and real-time intelligence, our PC security products run seamlessly in the background, helping ensure that even the most advanced threats are detected, without slowing your computer down,” she said.

Safe to live

The improvements McAfee has made to its PC based product have carried out to its LiveSafe service, the vendor’s cross-device data and identity solution for PCs, Macs, smartphones and tablets.

Beyond protecting users from viruses and threats online, the LiveSafe service also comes with automated management of usernames and passwords, as well as privacy protection for smartphone and tablets.

Like McAfee AM Core, the LiveSafe service was introduced last year and the the time since then has been spent tweaking the product for the 2014 range.
