iiNet turns on Perth NBN services

South Perth and Victoria Park the first to access fibre

Internet service provider, iiNet, has switched on its first Perth NBN services in the established suburbs of South Perth and Victoria Park.

About 1057 services were launched in Perth through iiNet, Internode, and Westnet, with more expected throughout the week.

This is the first major roll-out of NBN fibre in suburban Perth, and takes the ISP’s NBN customer total past 15,000.

iiNet said several residents have already jumped on board, including father-of-one, Shane McDermott, who was among the first in Perth to connect to the fibre service.

McDermott, a 29-year-old finance manager, claims the connection has transformed the way in which he works in his Victoria Park home, allowing more time with his one-year-old son.

“I could work from home before, but it used to take ages to do simple things like get documents off the work server, so I pretty much had to just work off my desktop,” McDermott said. “Now I can work off the company server with no problems, and it’s all just so much easier.”
