Cloud and premises-based unified communications (UC) software vendor, Mitel, has completed its acquisition of one of its key supplier, PrairieFyre Software, for about $20 million in cash.
PrairieFyre is a privately-held global provider of contact centre, business analytics, and workforce optimisation software and services.
“We believe the highly integrated nature of our existing OEM relationship with PrairieFyre prior to the acquisition makes this a low risk, high reward and compelling opportunity to immediately capitalise on market demand, expand revenue and margins, and positions Mitel for gongoing growth,” Mitel CEO and president, Richard McBee, said.
Mitel said the deal “coincides with the increasing influence of customer facing contact centre applications as a revenue engine for many organisations and a key factor in building and maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.”
It also said the agreement provides Mitel a development platform to address increasing demand for Cloud-based contact centre solutions.
PrairieFyre CEO, Chris Courneya, will retain his leadership within the contact centre group in new role as Mitel contact centres vice-president and general manager.
“Contact centres facilitate and create a natural connection point for customer engagement, sales and support, positioning our applications as critical enablers for customer purchasing decisions,” Courneya said. “The integration of PrairieFyre into Mitel at this point in the market gives both organisations the scale and skills to more effectively meet this demand, and grow our contact centre business.”
The deal is expected to be accretive in the first year.
