Tardis first to achieve IBM Storage Elite Specialty status in Australia

Sydney-based Tardis has become the first business in Australia to acquire IBM’s Storage Elite Specialty status.
The IT solutions provider and IBM Business Partner gained the accolade for successfully developing sustainable IBM System Storage practices.
Tardis Services CTO, Steve Brown, says that the achievement was made possible following an investment into training.
“We have a number of engineers and architects that we got trained up, so that they passed certain required certifications across a broad range of IBM storage technologies,” he said.
“On top of that, we got a number of references from our existing customers that pointed to the fact that we’ve provided a holistic storage solution and the benefits around that.”
As for why Tardis was the first company in Australia to achieve Storage Elite Speciality status, Brown says it was due to the “denseness of expertise” the company has in its architects and engineers
“To some extent, that made it easier for us to achieve that status,” he said.
By acquiring the status in IBM’s Storage Elite Specialty program, Tardis is expected to receive several benefits from IBM to further support it.
Brown admits there are some financial benefits, but the real value for Tardis is in having IBM sitting there at the company’s right hand.
“This inclused working with us in terms of co-marketing and helping us to identify areas where we could develop in terms of training and market penetration into certain industries where we aren’t getting as much traction as we would like,” he said.
The hope for Brown is that the company will use this achievement to go building beyond just providing storage solutions and providing more holistic, private Cloud solutions, as well as potentially building a more public Cloud type storage offering.
“Achieving Storage Elite Specialty status shows to our customers that we are someone who has invested the time in bringing their people up to a certain level of expertise, and can provide that real professional service engagement,” he said.
