TUSC tips multi-million Telstra contract, partners with Waterlog

TUSC Computer Systems has been busy in the lead up to the Utilicon utilities industry conference in Melbourne today, bagging a multimillion dollar contract with Telstra and partnering with South East Water Limited (SEWL) to distribute customised software.

TUSC will rollout and support a network management suite by US vendor Micromuse into Telstra's Global Operations Centre (GOC) in Melbourne over a three-year period. Telstra's GOC site monitors and controls the carrier's core transmission network, its core switch network, network infrastructure and data platforms like IP, telephony and router networks.

The Melbourne-based reseller is the sole Australian partner for Micromuse's Netcool software suite, which will be used by Telstra as the front-end interface for its centralised network management and alarm monitoring strategy.

According to Daryll Goodall, managing director of TUSC, the integrator leveraged an existing 10-year supplier relationship with Telstra and invested heavily in the up-front training of its own staff.

TUSC became a Micromuse partner earlier this year as part of its aggressive market expansion strategy aimed at doubling revenue over the next three years, a statement released by the company said. Goodall says this is part of the strategy that saw the company move from largely a software development house to an integrator of third party software two years ago.

TUSC has since partnered with SEWL to commercialise a field services operation management software package internally developed by the utility.

Called Waterlog the product logs reporting faults, identifies the location of faults, alerts operators to any customers affected by a fault, locates the nearest service vehicle via GPS and sends work instructions for the repair of the fault.

Under the terms of the agreement TUSC will manage the sales and marketing of Waterlog to Australian utilities, providing technical services, implementation, integration, training and support for the system.
