Internet job slump continues

Job vacancies on the Internet dropped another 4.5 per cent last month according to the Olivier Internet Job Index for June.

IT and telecommunications jobs were especially hard hit dropping 9.7 per centcontinuing a downward trend during 2001.

Robert Olivier, head of the group, said the slump is due to IT job cuts in theUS and the recent collapse of One.Tel. "There is now less than a quarter of the jobs advertised in this sector than for the same time last year," he said.
