COMMUNITY: local Brother International sponsors Earthwatch Institute event

Printer products manufacturer, Brother International Australia, recently sponsored Earthwatch Institute of Australia’s 40th Anniversary Oceania gala dinner.
The event, held on August 10 to raise money and awareness about the deteriorating ocean environments around the world, raised more than $40,000.
Brother marketing manager of CSR and communications support, Alex Rodriguez, said, “The funding provided by the Brother Earth ‘click to donate’ campaign will allow the researchers to continue their scientific research, code named ‘Project Manta’, through the purchase of 6 x Wildlife Computer Mk10 Pop-up Archival Transmitting satellite tags for tracking manta rays in the wild."
As well the $40,000 and awareness raised at the gala dinner, Brother International Australia also donated a range of their professional printers and devices that were auctioned off.
They were: two HL-2240D mono laser printers with auto double-sided printing, a HL-4570CDW wireless colour laser printer with auto double sided printing, a DS-140 computerised sewing machine with LED light and PT-1880 electronic desktop labeller.
Guests who attended the event included: local singer Kate Ceberano and Michael Paynter, TV presenter Melissa Hetherington, Melbourne design identities Gwendolynne and Richard Nylon, and AFL presenter Hamish McLaughlan.
