David McLean has been appointed director of Microsoft Australia's newly created consumer channels group.
In his new role, McLean will be responsible for driving strategy for Windows PCs, Windows Phones, Xbox 360, Microsoft Office and Microsoft keyboards and peripherals through Telco, PC, online and retail channels.
The consumer channels group was recently formed to integrate the company’s current retail, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), distribution and mobile operator teams to form a single point of contact for its consumer-channels strategy.
McLean is a Microsoft Australia veteran and has been with the company for more than 15 years. He previously served as its entertainment and devices regional director A/NZ, responsible for Xbox 360, Kinect, games and Microsoft PC hardware, Windows and Office at retail.
Prior to joining Microsoft, he focused on financial accountability in his career, serving as a business manager with Datacom, business analyst with Thompson Financial Group and other financial controller and accounting roles.
He intends to use his appointment to bring Microsoft’s consumer products and channels to benefit its customers and partners’ experiences.
“Today’s demanding consumers look to companies to deliver only the very best experiences from their technology purchases,” he saidd.
The company also recently appointed Michelle Tea as its services director.
