NewSat wins $4.4 million contract with US military

The satellite services company will provide communication services to troops stationed in Afghanistan

Australian satellite services player, NewSat (ASX:NWT), has nabbed a $4.4 million contract to provide communications services to US military troops stationed in Afghanistan.

The deal entails offering satellite communication services to over 15 locations in the country from June.

Option to extend the arrangement for another year is included. NewSat already has an existing relationship with the US military.

“The US Military requires high-performance, reliable and secure communications,” NewSat CEO, Adrian Ballintine, said in a statement.

“This new contract win, together with NewSat’s recurring work for the US military, demonstrates NewSat’s world-class capabilities, products and services.”

Services are provided through the company’s first geostationary communications satellite, Jabiru-1, which caters to military, defence, government and high-value enterprise markets.

NewSat has secured $10 million worth of contract work this year.
