Trend Micro beefs up regional support

The security vendor has increased its technical and sales support for partners across Western Australia, Queensland and New Zealand

Security vendor, Trend Micro, has increased technical and sales support in regional areas for its partners.

At its 2011 Affinity Partner Summit in Sydney, Trend Micro managing director, Dave Patnaik, said customer acquisition was its key focus this year along with partner support.

Based on feedback from partners, the vendor increased its support across Queensland, Western Australia and New Zealand.

Its Queensland office was opened late last year, and the WA office launched this year.

“All these resource centres do have dedicated business plan, which will be localised based on your [partner] feedback because we want collaboration, work with our partners and ensure that our plan is in line with the market,” Patnaik said. “We’ll make sure every section of the business is well linked.”

The security vendor recently announced enhancements to its partner program to help accrue new customers.

The new features include enhanced deal registration rebates and discounts of up to 20 per cent for partners that register a new customer.

For top partners, even if the deal was fulfilled by another partner, they’re still eligible to obtain a deal protection rebate of about 10 per cent.

A three per cent rebate is also up for grabs for partners that renew a customer’s Trend Micro license after two years.

To help assist with a quicker turn around of rebates to partners, the vendor also upgraded it backend system.

In November last year, the security vendor restructured its local team, combining its enterprise and medium-size customer groups into one.
