Who said the printing industry lacked glamour? Alloys International gave the Oscars a run for its money recently when more than 800 resellers came together at the AllStar Bar and Stadium, Crown Complex Melbourne.
For once, IT vendors were held up for scrutiny at the distributor-hosted Alloys Awards. The distributor's reseller event - which is held each year with a different theme - lacked none of the glitz and drama of its Hollywood counterpart as vendors were awarded for product features and services.
The evening was also an opportunity for the resellers to view the latest offerings in digital imaging with fully operational displays by Acer, Canon, Epson, Xerox, Verbatim, Kyocera and Iomega. As well as its annual Gala event, Alloys frequently holds focused sales and training seminars at its reseller resource centre and showrooms in Abbotsford, Victoria.
The ceremony was co-hosted by Dean Murphy of Fox FM and Ms Andi Lew from TT FM in Melbourne. Guests were treated to a host of prizes, human gold statues and unforgettable performances by drag queen troupe The Digital Divas.
And the winners were:
Acer: For fastest warranty response in a Notebook rangeCanon: For outstanding margin in a product range (document scanners)Epson: For excellence in photographic printing technologyIomega: For innovation and excellence in storage solutionsKyocera: For outstanding achievement in environmental initiativesXerox: For the most comprehensive warranty in a printer rangeXerox Phaser: For the most impressive line-up of colour lasers
