Dimension Data plans to launch a second Global Service Centre based in Sydney’s North Ryde.
The new centre will be established in partnership with the NSW Government and will have assistance from Industry and Investment NSW. It is currently in development and will be operational by February.
DiData corporate communications manager, Martin Aungle, said it had increased its client base in NSW and ACT, and felt it was better to have another centre in Sydney.
DiData anticipates that 130 staff will be employed at the facility during its first year of operation and it will eventually support more than 300 jobs, which will include graduates and highly skilled technical engineers by 2015.
The integrator also has a GSC in Melbourne that supports about 300 technical staff and incorporates 24-hour technical IT support services for networks, storage, servers, desktop environment, business applications, contact centres, security and other related services.
In a statement, DiData COO, Ken Westwood, said the NSW Government’s support of the Sydney GSC reflects Dimension Data’s continued commitment to local development and the provision of local delivery of core services to clients.
“Through this investment, Dimension Data will increase its commitment to the NSW community by providing greater employment opportunities in the local IT sector, and we hope this will also help to raise the profile of IT as a career choice to tertiary students,” Westwood said.
NSW Treasurer, Eric Roozendaal, said investing in local infrastructure and workforce was critical to the success of NSW in a national and global marketplace.
