Maclean Computing nabs Kaseya MSP of the Year award

NZ-based Maclean Computing has taken out Kaseya’s Managed Service Provider of the Year award.
The company was founded by Allan Maclean 17 years ago when he saw a gap in the market for professional computing services required by businesses.
In early 2008, Maclean Computing moved into managed services after an annual customer survey drove a change in the business.
“One of the questions was what’s the most important thing an IT service provider can do for their business,” Maclean CEO, Chris Maclean, said. “The survey came back with two things: one is to increase uptime of IT services and two was to decrease response time.”
The company decided to turn to managed services as a platform as well as introducing a remote monitoring and maintenance system to address the issues.
Maclean Computing turned to Kaseya’s IT system managed solutions to automate some of the manual processes. This helped the service provider save money which it promptly invested back into improving the systems for clients.
“We’re delighted to win Kaseya’s Managed Services Provider of the Year award,” Maclean business development director, Steven Wilson, said. “It’s really a good recognition for the team we have here and how we’ve worked.”
Since it has adopted a managed services provider model, half of Maclean Computing’s 300-strong client base is now on a managed services program.
While it has experienced success in the space, the services firm saw changing clients’ perspectives as one its biggest challenges as a managed services provider.
“Once they understand the concept, it’s a fairly easy decision for them financially,” Wilson said. “But introducing the concept to clients can be tough at times.”
Maclean Computing is looking to increase its client base in 2011 as well developing a managed services model to target 500-2000 seat organisations.
It also wants to push its Enfusion offering, a wholesale managed services program that helps those that want an easier way to enter into the managed services provider business.
