Former SAP CEO, Alan Hyde, joins NEC

NEC aims to drive its system integration and services business in Australia with Hyde's appointment

NEC Australia has hired its first non-Japanese managing director, Alan Hyde.

He replaces Wataru Takeuchi, who has returned to Japan. This is the first time in the vendor’s 41-year history that it has hired a local to head up its Australian operations.

Hyde was SAP Australia's general manager for the norther region untill 2007, when he became its local CEO. He then left the company in January 2008.

He has also held a number of senior positions at PeopleSoft Australia and UK, and started his career at IBM.

The vendor views Hyde’s experience, understanding of the Australian services market and his customer-centric approach, as an advantage in driving new business.

“This appointment marks a clear and serious signal of NEC’s intent to focus on and accelerate the growth of its systems integration and services businesses in Australia,” the vendor said in a statement.

NEC Asia-Pacific CEO, Kiyofumi Kusaka, said Hyde’s local knowledge and expertise would pay huge dividends as it seeks to embrace new markets and enter a new period of growth.
