The deal was signed in March after the service provider was shortlisted in December along with five other competitors. It will see Fujitsu provide services across servers, desktop, helpdesk and assorted ICT operations. The service provider could not disclose the full price of the contract but said it was a multi-million dollar deal.
Contract duration is for 40 months but a Fujitsu spokesperson said this could be extended for another two years and claimed there was opportunity for extra projects to be added down the track.
Canon said it chose Fujitsu because of its mature approach to ICT service management. In a statement, Fujitsu CEO, Rod Vawdrey, said the organisations were a good cultural fit and would work well together.
The service provider recently took a step forward with its cloud strategy by launching its infrastructure-as-a-service offering, allowing customers to retain control over servers, storage systems and applications.
