Banksia makes move into distribution arena

Banksia Software, a name synonymous in the early 90s with modems, has re-emerged as a distribution company focused on delivering value-add software tools and services to the SME sector.
The developer says the current, more mature, SME market is crying out for new add-on technology to improve communications and productivity and is now on the hunt for resellers to take its range of specialist communications, security and productivity software solutions to market.
"The introduction of the GST saw thousands of established businesses introduce technology for the first time. This, in conjunction with widespread use of the Internet and the increased numbers working from dual locations has created the demand for our niche, value-add solutions," says Darren Finch, sales manager for Banksia Software.
"Our primary market is SMEs [looking for] affordable solutions, greater flexibility, mobility and ultimately, to improve day-to-day operations and lower business overheads."
Reluctant to lock itself into any one type of reseller, Banksia's only prerequisite is that partners have "existing resources in place to manage sales and integration demand". The developer's goal is to service its existing customer base as well as expand in new directions.
Banksia specialises in Net Support Manager, the Cyber Sentinel range and Equisys' popular Zetafax, which it believes continue to dominate the fax network market.
Established in December 2000, Banksia Software is now an independently owned and operated offshoot from Netcomm which merged with Banksia Technology in 1997.
