Takeover blues for Datacraft

The rumblings of rationalisation rocked through Datacraft Australia recently in the wake of the company's acquisition by South African company Dimension Data Holdings in late August this year.
At that time, Dimension Data, possessing a sizable stake in Com Tech, initially indicated that Com Tech and Datacraft would be merged to form a joint company in Australia.
However, on October 31, Datacraft staff were informed that their company will now be absorbed into Com Tech Communications' systems integration division - to be known simply as Com Tech - with ex-Datacraft Australia managing director Phil Belcher now general manager of this division.
According to David Shein, group managing director of Com Tech Communications, 107 of Datacraft's 160 staff will join Com Tech. The two companies had considerable overlaps in the area of systems integration, now combined as Com Tech. Datacraft's capabilities in CTI and IVR will become key products in Com Tech's portfolio, Shein added.
