- The market opened strongly in morning trading before quickly stabilising in positive territory. It also gained in late trading and the S&P/ASX200 closed up 70.4 points at 4734.1.
- The Aussie dollar has climbed against the American dollar and buys $US0.8748. Gold is up to $US1015.5 an ounce while oil is up at $US71.6 a barrel
