Logitech continues to tweak its channel

Peripherals vendor, Logitech, has continued to build out its channel presence by appointing a new distributor and sub-distributor.
Scholastic has been appointed as a new master distributor, to take products to education, B2B, corporate and Government customers. Altech has been added to the stable of sub-distributors.
Following a rationalisation of its channel model in July, and creation of the Platinum Partner Program, Logitech’s master distributors are now Synnex, Ingram Micro and Scholastic. Its Platinum sub-distributors are Bluechip Infotech, Mittoni and All Interactive Distribution (AID).
The vendor is also maintaining Fluidtek IT, Wireless1 and Centrecom Corporate as Platinum Partners, but Anyware has since been dropped off the partner list.
Logitech director, George Saad, said Scholastic was strong in market segments that the vendor had a minimal presence in.
“We think there is a high demand for peripherals in schools that just haven’t been serviced,” he said.
“We see opportunities with cameras, photo editing tools, USB microphones, keyboards and mice, as well as posture and ergonomics equipment, which should be important to children.”
Altech was appointed as a second national sub-distributor to the first, BlueChip Infotech.
“Altech targets a different category of customer to Bluechip,” Saad said. “Its strengths in gaming and high audio are complementary for us.”
Anyware national marketing manager, Steve Grant, claimed the split between the two organisations occurred six weeks ago and was amicable.
“We’d only been dealing with Logitech for a few months – we were approached to give a partnership a go following its rationalisation of partnerships, and it just didn’t work at the time,” he said.
