Samsung Australia has knighted S.R. Yoon as its new managing director.
After a 30-month tenure, Yoon’s predecessor, Kevin Choi, is returning to the company’s Korean headquarters to head up a new Home Appliance department.
Prior to being appointed managing director, Yoon was the vice-president for Samsung’s mobile device division in Korea with responsibility for North America.
Yoon has been employed by the electronics vendor since 1987. In his 22 years with the company, he assumed a variety of roles ranging from sales to product planning. The managing director position will be officially passed over on August 10.
There has been a lot of movement at Samsung this year, starting with BenQ veteran, Philip Newton, jumping ship to become the company’s IT director in March. The following month, Samsung monitors manager, Joe Serra, was made redundant just over 12 months after returning to the vendor.
The axe also hit Samsung retail sales general manager, Mark Beard, after the company executed a major restructuring of its sales and marketing team last month.
In May, the vendor announced its notebook comeback after a two-year hiatus.
