ABBYY forays into Australian market with ACA Pacific

The Russian vendor is confident its products will achieve success in the local market

Russian documentation software vendor, ABBYY, has picked up ACA Pacific as its first and sole distributor in Australia after approaching the local entity four months ago for a fresh collaboration opportunity.

“We have a very good reputation in the document management sector and we have been distributing in that sector for more than 20 years,” ACA Pacific marketing manager, Raj Saini, said. “Word gets around. ABBYY was looking for a partner in the country and we fitted the bill.”

ACA Pacific will have access to the vendor’s entire range including flagship products such as ABBYY FineReader, an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software that allows for conversion of paper documents and images to editable and searchable electronic files.

In a press statement, ABBYY Asia-Pacific regional director, Eugeniya Izmesteva, said OCR solutions and document capture technologies were in great demand in the region and the vendor is confident its key products will be popular in the Australian market.

While the technology is not new to the distributor’s line-up, Sajni said it opened up the company’s range considerably.

“These products are complementary to our document management solutions for high-end scanners that we offer to SMBs and enterprise clients.”

The additional offerings are available to ACA Pacific’s whole reseller base and the company will introduce a range of educational and incentive programs for the channel.

“In the coming months, we will hold promotions including reseller incentive programs as well as product launches and training sessions for our partners,” Saini said.

He could not specify how much revenue ACA Pacific wanted the partnership to generate but did state it expected a boost in complementary sales.
