Juniper to launch partner design and planning specialisation

Networking vendor, Juniper Networks, will launch a design and planning specialisation in July to boost its partner base and reduce complexity in its services model.
The specialisation is open to all but requires partners to have an existing practice of delivering planning and design services, and a commitment of two staff dedicated and certified at the highest Juniper level by product.
"We've been talking about design for about six months. We really went to market and analysed which partners would benefit most," Juniper Networks Asia-Pacific services channel manager, Willem Bos, said. "It is those partners that actually have a full lifecycle services management system."
The move follows on from the launch of two other specialisations in recent times: Implement and Operate.
"Those who are involved in the planning and design of solutions need to be aware of this stuff as quickly as they can," Bos said. "We are inviting them to be a part of the transfer of information." The announcement was made at the Juniper partner summit in Byron Bay, where Bos also told attendees they should be looking to increase their services play to garner more gross margin on their offerings. He also acknowledged there had been some confusion over the networking player's services model.
"In the past, because we were skinny on the ground in terms of people, we have assumed that what we know has necessarily been translated to our partners as well. But just because we know doesn't mean they know," Bos said. "So in the last 12 months I have relaunched the program."
He also confirmed the vendor will look at consolidating its recent partner program changes over the next 12 months after the design specialisation is launched.
"There will be no new programmatic elements but rather enhancing the program and listening to our partner base,” Bos said.
