Editorial: Introducing ARN IT Industry Awards 2009
- 06 May, 2009 00:36
I’d like to use this week’s editorial to officially announce the third annual ARN IT Industry Awards for 2009.
Our awards have come a long way since that first successful night at Doltone House in Sydney on September 26, 2007, where 460 representatives from the industry came to celebrate their achievements and network with colleagues and friends.
By the time our second awards night came around on September 18, 2008, we’d had to find a new venue, the Hilton Hotel, to house the 520 people wanting to come along to this industry’s night of nights.
This year’s event will again be held at the Hilton Hotel on Thursday, September 24, and is dedicated to honouring those in our community who’ve succeeded in this tough economic climate.
As many of you are no doubt aware, one of ARN’s key objectives is to foster a broader sense of channel community. In recent months, we’ve introduced a range of features to our website, www.arnnet.com.au, including a new Community section with blogs, an image and multimedia gallery, weekly quiz and our Hall of Fame, to foster informal channel collaboration.
We also launched Fight Back ’09 to recognise Australian organisations still winning business and innovating. With this focus in mind, we’ve decided to give the awards a new theme this year: Linking the channel community.
The channel is an integral part of the ICT industry, which in turn plays a critical role in driving Australia’s economy and growth. Given the global financial situation we’re all faced with, it’s more important than ever to stand together and recognise our importance as a community.
However, we haven’t forgotten the need to build a greener ICT future. As a result, we have again chosen to support Clean Up Australia as our awards charity.
Alongside the new theme, we’ve tweaked the 2009 ARN awards categories, adding Best Distributor Initiative. We will also be streamlining the nomination process to make it even easier for organisations and individuals to enter.
Nominations for awards open on June 15 and close on July 24. From there, ARN, in conjunction with Channel Dynamics director, Moheb Moses, will select a shortlist for each category. We will then pass these on to our panel of industry judges to decide the winner.
To ensure we get the best results across all awards categories, we’ve doubled the size of the judging panel this year to 60 professionals across the vendor, distributor and reseller landscape. We’ll also be implementing new processes around the voting process.
Full details on this year’s awards are now available on our website: http://www.arnnet.com.au/industry_ awards. Those wanting to relive the highlights from last year will also find a selection of photos from the night, as well as winners’ profiles.
I encourage all to participate in this wonderful industry event and look forward to seeing new and familiar faces on September 24. So mark the date in your diary now!
