Dimension Data mustered up some of the IT industry’s golfing talent to host its first Starlight Golf Day. The event attracted more 110 budding players to the grassy green Avondale Golf Club course in Pymble, NSW, and raised $100,000 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation to support seriously ill children and their families.
APC, Blue Coat Systems, Cisco, EMC, Intel, K2, McAfee, NetApp, Riverbed Technology, Symantec, Tandberg, TeleWare, Trend Micro and VMware sponsored the day. Players also laid out their pennies, contributing more than $13,000.
A highlight of the day was Dimension Data CEO, Steve Nola, hitting the flag on the par five and denying himself an eagle. Proving that every centimetre counts, another golfer just missed the Lexus RX400h hole-in-one prize by a mere 31cm.
