Information delivery vendor looks to expand Australian channel

AlarmPoint Systems has appointed its first Asia-Pacific regional sales director
Notification platform vendor, AlarmPoint Systems, has recruited its first regional director to build a local partner network and grow its customer base.
David Wall, who spent the past six years at CA, primarily in its channel organisation, is the US vendor’s first Asia-Pacific regional sales director and will be based out of Sydney.
AlarmPoint’s actionable information delivery solution is designed to sit alongside a customer or service provider’s existing IT management infrastructure as an event notifications platform. For example, when service-related data needs to be sent, the platform seeks out the most appropriate person to push information to based on their role in the organisation and preferred method of communication. If it is unable to contact the first person in the designated timeframe, it moves on to the next specified staff member, and so on.
The platform then allows users to access their service desk tools from any browser-based device and offers events auditing and reporting functionality. AlarmPoint has several strategic vendor partnerships including BMC, IBM and HP.
“In most IT environments, customers are using management tools like these, which do an excellent job of maintaining and monitoring their IT infrastructure,” Wall said. “When things go wrong, these systems either send a note to the service desk or email the database group. But this one-way communication is really ‘send and hope’: What AlarmPoint does is accelerate the process and notify the right people and at the right time based on their profiles.”
Wall is now on the lookout for partners. The first port of call will be its strategic vendor channels, as well as managed service providers. AlarmPoint has an existing relationship with local services provider, Planwell, and will also look to ramp business up further.
“Basically, we’re after partners who are in the IT service management space, but it is a niche space and a new market, so we need to build our partner network with that in mind,” Wall said. “We will need specialist partners.”
AlarmPoint’s customer base covers several market segments including financial services, insurance and government, but Wall said its technology could apply across most industries.
“Where processes and notification services are needed, we can supply that,” he said.
