Evolution IT gets a new Commander

Commander Communications has acquired Melbourne-based integrator Evolution IT. In a deal finalised yesterday, ASX-listed Commander purchased the business for $2.4 million on an earn-out arrangement.
Evolution IT, a division of Independent Computers Australia, was recently appointed a Symantec Enterprise sales partner and posted revenues last year of $8.9 million. Commander plans to grow that to the $12 million mark this year.
"It's not a huge business for Commander in terms of our other acquisitions, but Evolution IT is a great firm, with a large customer base that fits in very well with SME enterprise," said Commander's deputy managing director, Dean Gingell. "They also have lots of good-quality vendor relationships and some great people, which is the key thing."
While the company will eventually move under the Commander brand, the operation will remain as Evolution IT for the time being.
"It is a great complement to our existing IT structure here in Melbourne" Gingell said. "Everyone is pretty pleased with the outlook for the future."
